The CCRI men's soccer team welcomed Massasoit Community College for a 2pm kick-off at home on the Lincoln campus after the women's game at noon. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon for two games back to back. The Knights Soccer team had a game 24 hours before against Bristol Community College, so Coach Toro told the team that it would take a complete team effort to play two games on a weekend and come away with a win. Julian Diaz started in goal for the Knights today. Some key players could not go today because of some injuries, so Brandon Castillo got the start today playing in the back with Andre Barbosa and Carlos Soares. Daniel Morales and Elton Fernandes led the attack adding some control to the midfield. Up top Knight had Thomas Serluca and Diego Garcia. About 28 minutes into the game, CCRI's Luciano Berrospi took it into the box and looked farside and put in a perfect chip pass over the defense where Freshman Thomas Serluca was ready to head it into the back of the net to give the Knights the 1-0 lead. The game would remain 1-0 until the second half. In the second half about 8 minutes in, Thomas Serluca received a pass from Diego Garcia which set him up for his second goal of the game, and gave the Knights a commanding 2-0 lead. With about 15 minutes left at the 75th minute, Serluca struck once again after a pass from Carlos Soares, and Serluca was able to tuck it away to give him an impressive hat trick on the day. With 10 minutes left, Elton Fernandes and some other players had to come out after a collision in the box with Massasoit goalkeeper. With about 9 minutes left in the game, Massasoit was able to score twice making it a nailbiter at the end. First goal was a chip over Julian Diaz and the second came after a ball hit a Knight in the arm inside the box resulting in a penalty kick. After the PK the Knights had to hold on to stop Massasoit from making it a draw. The Knights were able to regain a bit of control of possession of the ball again at the end, and run out the clock and taking the 3-2 victory.
CCRI's next game is scheduled for Tuesday, 9/23/25, away against Springfield Tech. Community College for a 4pm kick-off in Springfield, Massachusetts.
